The Undying DM Play on TwitchPlay

FAQ

Everything a new viewer usually asks before joining the crowd.

Is it free?
Yes. Watching and playing are free — you only need to be able to type in the Twitch chat.
Can I play without assembling a party?
Yes. No private group, session zero, scheduling or character sheet is required: open the stream, type a direction in chat, and help everyone else control Kessen.
I've never played a 2D RPG — can I join?
Yes, and you don't need to know a single rule. Type up, down, left or right to move. When numbered choices appear, type the number you want; the game handles the rules.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The game is played from Twitch chat. There is nothing to download and no site account to create; a Twitch account is only required to send messages.
What is an “AI Dungeon Master”?
Xarnak is the AI that generates and narrates the live adventure. Maps, encounters, NPCs and quests react to the crowd inside the persistent canon of Vaelis; a separate deterministic engine resolves the rules.
Does it use 5E rules?
It uses material from the 5e SRD for attacks, saves, skill checks and XP. The experience itself is a crowd-controlled 2D video game, not a virtual tabletop: the AI generates the adventure, while the deterministic engine owns the numbers.
How many people can play at once?
Everyone, at the same time. The whole chat drives a single hero, Kessen the Divided: each viewer's latest direction counts once, and the most-supported command moves him. At the turning points, the DM puts the choice to a vote.
Can the hero die?
Kessen can fall and a wipe sends him back to the nearest refuge. The loss and its consequences are real, but the crowd's unique hero is never permanently deleted.
What data do you keep?
There is no public portal account. If you participate, the game processes the Twitch identity and public messages attached to your actions and votes. See the privacy notice for details.
Where do I start?
Open the stream and type up. For every control, see How to Play.
